MOMENT #2

"Leo Barry
You STAR"

In one of the most dramatic finishes in AFL history, Leo Barry etched his name into Swans folklore forever. It was the 2005 AFL Grand Final, and the Sydney Swans were clinging to a narrow lead against the West Coast Eagles. The final moments were agonising for fans on both sides as the Eagles surged forward in a last desperate attempt to clinch the game. But then, out of nowhere, Leo Barry flew across the pack to take a courageous and unforgettable mark. As he steadied himself, the siren rang out, confirming the Swans' four-point victory and first premiership win since 1933. The roar from the crowd and the emotion in the players’ faces cemented this moment as one of the most iconic in AFL history, immortalised by the call: “Leo Barry, you star!”

This was the best memory of being a Swans supporter for 50 years. My Mum, brother & myself who were there at the MCG that day had tears of joy when the siren rang just after Leo's mark.
